LEICESTER pushed Edinburgh to the limit in a Championship thriller at Armadale – but a late collapse saw them go down to a 49-40 defeat.
Stewart Dickson’s men went toe-to-toe with the Monarchs but let it slip in Heat 14 when the home side notched a 5-1 through Josh Pickering and William Lawson to go five-points clear.
And when Josh Pickering and Sam Masters got the better of Watling JCB Lions duo Nick Morris and Kyle Howarth in the last heat Leicester were denied a consolation point.
Now they turn their attentions to Saturday night when they look to finish the job against Scunthorpe in the Knockout Cup.
Boss Stewart Dickson said: “I’m naturally disappointed to come away with nothing. We should have done better than that.
“I look down the scorechart and I know we’re a better team than that. It’s frustrating for us all but we need to work hard to put it right.
“There’s no doubt Glasgow are the form team in the Championship, but we need to do something to make sure we can keep up with then, we need to improve.
“We work with riders, we encourage them and we want our guys to do well. We win and lose as a team but we need to improve.
“We head back to Leicester for Saturday night against Scunthorpe and we won’t be taking them for granted even though we have a handy lead in the cup tie.
“Scunny have riders who know our track and it should be a good night of speedway , I’ve got to get my positive hat on and I’m looking forward to it and I hope all our fans are too.”
